What Amazon, Walmart, eBay and TikTok Shop Allow in Dropshipping

November 6, 2026 / 5 min read

Sellers often ask whether dropshipping is allowed, as if the answer were yes or no. On the big marketplaces it depends on who your supplier is and whose name reaches the customer. All four have the same basic concern: the buyer should deal with you, and shouldn't receive a package from a different store.

This is a summary, not legal advice, and policies change. Read the current policy before you list.

The short version

MarketplaceDropshipping from a supplierAnother retailer shipping directly to your customer
AmazonAllowed if you're the seller of recordNot allowed if the shipment names anyone but you
WalmartAllowed if you meet all seller requirementsNot allowed, and called retail arbitrage
eBayAllowed from a wholesale supplierNot allowed
TikTok Shop (US)Check current seller rulesNot allowed under its packaging requirements

Amazon

Amazon allows drop shipping only when it's clear to the buyer that you're the seller of record. Your supplier has to identify you and nobody else on the order. Packing slips, invoices and outer packaging can't show a third party's name, and you handle returns yourself.

Breaking the policy can restrict your ability to sell through merchant fulfillment.

Walmart

Walmart's shipping and fulfillment policy is direct: you may not buy products from another retailer and have that retailer ship the order to your customer. A package also can't carry the name of anyone other than the manufacturer or the seller, and that covers the packing slip, the invoice and the box. Orders can't go out in a competitor's packaging.

eBay

eBay allows dropshipping when you fulfill directly from a wholesale supplier. Buying the item from another retailer or marketplace that ships directly to your customer isn't allowed. You also remain responsible for safe delivery within the time stated in your listing. Penalties range from removed listings to account suspension.

TikTok Shop

In September 2026, TikTok Shop published Order Packaging Requirements for US orders. Among the banned practices is shipping directly from other retailers to customers. Its rules vary by country, so confirm what applies in Seller Center.

What this means for your store

  1. Use real suppliers. Work with wholesalers or manufacturers who can issue proper invoices and agree to ship under your name.
  2. Control the package. Know what's on the box, the label and the slip before the first order ships.
  3. Own the customer experience. Late deliveries, returns and complaints count against you, whoever packed the order.
  4. Consider holding stock. Once a product sells steadily, FBA or WFS can remove much of this risk.
